Barkleypedia is intended to grow with ecosystem knowledge of Barkley Sound from many different perspectives. Feel free to use the format that you are most comfortable with, for example, you may wish to write a short story describing your ecosystem knowledge, an article, a summary, etc. To add (aka 'post') your knowledge into Barkleypedia follow the steps below.
**If the following steps are too complicated, click here to fill in an EasyShare form and we'll post it for you.**
Step 1. Create a login. Click on 'Create new account' near the bottom of the left side menu. Follow the instructions that are given on that page. An email will be sent to you in a matter of seconds with your temporary password.
Step 2. Once you have successfully logged in you can post an abstract or article into Barkleypedia! To do this, go to 'Enter Barkleypedia' located under Barkleypedia on the left side menu. Here you will see a list of submissions that have already been made, both articles and abstracts will be located together. You may read any of these at any time by clicking on the title of the submission.

Step 4. Type in your abstract or article title in 'Title of Article'. If you wish to copy and paste you title in the 'Title of Article' field, please read the note following Step 5 on copy and pasting .
Step 5. Play around with the different functions on the editor to get a feel for it. Once you can navigate the general buttons, type in the body of your abstract or article. If posting an abstract, remember to adhere to the guidelines and you may also use the template, both of which can be found under Downloads on the side menu. You can write your abstract in Word using the template, then copy and paste it into the Body on the editor. Please refer to the note below on copy and pasting if you wish to copy and paste any text.
Note about Copy and Pasting: It is possible to copy and paste text into both the title and body. If doing so, you may be prompted with a window asking you to allow access to you clipboard, click 'allow access'. Next, you may see a window asking if you would like to clean your text. Click 'ok' and paste your text in the new window which will pop up. The fomatting on pasted text may be modified or lost, but use the functions on the editor for reformatting. Note that some users have found that copying text from Notepad into Barkleypedia rather than Word straight away has avoided some formatting issues (Word=> Notepad=> Barkleypedia).
Step 6. Once you have written an abstract or article, click preview to make sure your submission appears how you want it. You may edit the article again and again until you are satisfied. Click Save. Once saved, anyone can read your posting in Barkleypedia! Rember you can login at any time to edit your submission.
***If you are writing an article and would like to upload an image please consult the 'Guide to Inserting Figures and Tables' on the left side menu under Downloads***
