Call for Wiki abstracts

THE CALL FOR ABSTRACTS IS NOW CLOSED

Open: October 1, 2009

Closes: November 30, 2009

Wiki abstract submission will be open until November 30, 2009 to be considered for presentation at the symposium.

All Barkley Sound researchers and other holders of ecosystem knowledge are invited to submit  Wiki abstracts related to all ecological topics in Barkley Sound, especially focused on the symposium themes (see Themes).

Subject matter will focus on the marine realm, but submissions from the freshwater realm would be appropriate if there were clearly strong linkages between freshwater and marine processes (e.g. estuarine circulation and freshwater input; marine environmental quality and freshwater input) or species (e.g. salmon originating in freshwater that migrate through or rear in Barkley Sound).

These 500 word abstracts (download Guidelines and Template) are to be posted directly onto Barkleypedia (e.g. by pasting from Word). Longer Wiki articles for Barkleypedia will be solicited from particular authors, and versions of these will also be published in the Symposium Proceedings.  These proceedings will form part of an Integrated Ecosystem Assessment, which will support the Comprehensive Ocean Zoning and the Integrated Ocean and Coastal Plan (see Proceedings). Individual holders of ecosystem knowledge of Barkley Sound who cannot attend the symposium may also submit Wiki articles to Barkleypedia, and may also be invited to contribute to the Integrated Ecosystem Assessment.

There is no limit on the number of abstracts an author may submit.

3.    Results or Observations
4.    Discussion/Conclusion
