This information will be used to inform sustainable planning. This is a great opportunity for ANYONE to share knowledge, whether as a story, short paragraph, article, etc., about the Barkley Sound ecosystem and contribute to planning the future of this region’s ecosystem. Everyone is encouraged to share their knowledge either through ‘Barkleypedia’ or through the knowledge symposium.

‘Barkleypedia’ and the Barkley Sound Knowledge Symposia are both part of the larger community outreach taking place through the ‘Tsawlk Patrnership’. Tsawalk is a new planning initiative begun on the West Coast of Vancouver Island to help all the communities and residents of the region to make decision about their own future by contributing directly to the planning effort. The overall objective is to achieve sustainable economies, societies and ecosystems in the region.

Full articles (e.g. 2000-4000 words) of those abstracts will be solicited from the authors of accepted abstracts in early December, 2009, but full unsolicited articles are welcome at any time for contribution to the general knowledge base.
