The Westerly News
Dec. 1, 2004

Ucluelet and Tofino were awarded $8,000 in grant money to put toward water conservation.

Ucluelet's list of uses for the grant include: developing a drought management plan; promoting low-impact development solutions for a water conservation plan; reviewing and editing bylaws; and educating the public on water conservation.

Tofino plans to use its grant to develop a water conservation plan, a contingency plan, and a drought management plan.

Land and Water BC, the government corporation responsible for Crown land and water resources, funded the grants to assist water suppliers with drought management and water conservation. The money is pert of a $2 million, province-wide fund.
