The Department of Fisheries and Oceans has brought the daily quota for sockeye salmon in Barkley Sound and Alberni Inlet from four to zero.

This move was promtped by a low preseason forecast of 210,000 fish.

"At this run size there is no allocation available to the recreational or commercial fisheries," states a release.

Clayoquot Sound is not similarly affected, but the areas off the coast of 121, 123 and 127 are. For more information go to www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca
