Sea Otter Action Plan Workshops


Meeting Dates and Draft Agenda
 
 
BC's sea otters are designated as 'THREATENED' by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada and legally listed under the Species at Risk Act.


You are invited to participate in drafting a Recovery Action Plan for Sea Otters in BC.

The sessions have three purposes:

1) Provide information about sea otter recovery planning in BC, particularly on the development of a Recovery Action Plan for Sea Otters in BC. This Action Plan details specific activities being recommended to implement the Recovery Strategy for Sea Otters in BC that was completed in June 2003.
Information is also included on the costs of the action plan and the benefits to be derived from its implementation. An updated draft of the Recovery Strategy, which has been revised based on input from First Nations, stakeholders and other interested parties, will be available.

2) Provide an opportunity for feedback on the draft Action Plan.

3) Seek community input to stimulate local involvement in sea otter recovery activities.

Should you be unable to attend, the draft of the Action Plan will also be available (January 20, 2004) for your comment through the Fisheries & Oceans Canada web site:
