 article:  Hisnit deposit showing promise

Another piece of the jigsaw which will hopefully help rebuild Gold River's economic future is starting to fall into place.

Doublestar Resources Ltd. reported late last month that the Century Limestone project in Nootka Sound is showing promise.

Paul Gray, President of Doublestar, told The Record that the deposits "are giving all the signs that more work is needed there. It continues to show itself as a potentially viable resource."

The area of the six mineral claims in the Hisnet Inlet area covers approximately 1,940 hectares. Two limestone deposits have been identified in the area.

One of the driving forces behind the exploration is the proposed biomass-powered thermal power plant being developed by Green Island Energy in the former pulp mill site.

The air pollution control system to be installed in the power plant will use "multi clone lime injection flue gas quench technology" which will require a daily tonnage of limestone.

Doublestar, while not yet in any contractual agreement with GIE, is hoping that the close proximity of this limestone deposit will make it an attractive proposition for the power plant.

The possibility of a quarry operation is still several months away since a diamond drilling program will need to be implemented. An exploration work permit has been granted to Doublestar to allow 4,000 metres of diamond drilling on the property. This program will determine the depth, extent, continuity and grade of both the limestone deposits.

The President of Doublestar indicated that, at the earliest, it would be 18 months before any significant quarrying can commence, if all the tests warrant such an operation.
